Areas Of Focus
From working in a community mental health setting, school settings, and a hospital setting, I am thankful to have worked with a diverse group of people coming from different walks of life. Throughout my journey as a therapist, I have come to learn that my specialty is working with QTBIPOC communities. I support folks in these communities struggling with Trauma that has stemmed from childhood, racial identity, gender identity, sexual identity, interpersonal relationships, attachment styles, and childhood. I also support folks with other topics such as:
Anxiety
Depression
Nuerodiversity
Work stress
Relationship conflict including navigating polyamory
My Approach
Now that you know what I support folks with, next is the how. I ground my practice in relational cultural therapy as my base, meaning that progress and healing start with building trust, with building a mutual collaborative relationship. I pull from different modalities, but I focus on using a somatic approach. I am trained in brainspotting to support folks’ healing with trauma. Now you may wondering what that is, well let me break it down real quick. Brainspotting is an intervention used to treat PTSD and trauma. It is a more somatically based intervention. There’s a saying: the mind is in the body, and the body is in the mind. You may notice that you go to therapy and talk, and intellectualize your feelings, but still feel like something's off or still have that negative belief about yourself. With brainspotting, we will focus on what is going on within your body, not just mentally but also physically. We will process internally so you’re able to work through these trauma symptoms that are impacting you physically and mentally.
